The knee replacement operations are
primarily designed for elderly patients. They can be
safely performed in any patients ranging from 35-85
years
Knee replacement operations are being performed all
over the world for the last 40 years by conventional
method
Limitations
of Conventional method of knee replacement
1. Chance of Human error during operation
2. Possibility of poor alignment of joint
3. improper balancing of joint may lead to painful movements
4. the placement of implant may be unsatisfactory during
surgery
The world literature clearly shows
that if the patient of prosthesis is not within 30 Degree
of accuracy, the prosthesis can fail within short duration.
Even the most experienced surgeon cannot align the prosthesis
within accuracy of 3 degree in more than 60-70% of cases!!
